Fullerton police officer charged with murder in beating death of homeless man

Fullerton Assemblyman Chris Norby asked California Attorney General Kamala Harris to join investigations into the beating death of mentally ill transient Kelly Thomas by Fullerton police officers, according to a letter released Thursday.

Hopes publicizing the extent of the injuries he suffered after a confrontation with Fullerton police in July may help speed up investigations in the case.

Officers have been charged in the beating death of Kelly Thomas.

Michael Sellers has extended his medical leave of absence for another 30 days amid calls for criminal charges to be filed against six officers involved in the brutal beating of a homeless man.

Two Fullerton, California police officers face felony charges in the beating death of a homeless man in July. The charges come in the death of 37-year-old Kelly Thomas, who was beaten by police and died five days later.
